Booking your ceremony
The first step in booking your ceremony is to decide where you would like the ceremony to take place and make a provisional booking.
You don't need to live in Cheshire East to have your ceremony here.
If you choose one of our approved premises, contact our Ceremonies Team on 01270 375140 option 2.
When you have booked your ceremony, the team will be able to advise you on how to give notice of intent.
Type of ceremony
The marriage venue that you choose will depend on what type of ceremony you wish to have. There are three types of ceremony venues offered within England and Wales:
A civil ceremony at approved premises
There are over 70 approved premises in Cheshire East licensed to hold civil marriages, including hotels, stately homes, restaurants and even a castle. See the ceremony venues page for more details.
A Cheshire East ceremony at approved premises can be booked up to three years in advance of the ceremony date. We love to chat, so please call the team on 01270 375140 option 2 or email ceremonysupport@cheshireeast.gov.uk
At the time of booking, you will pay an administration fee. This amount is deducted from the final fee for your booking. See the marriage fees page for more details.
Marriages at approved premises are available every day of the week, including bank holidays, from midnight to 6pm, subject to availability.
A civil ceremony in a register office or other council building
Cheshire East has two attractive statutory ceremony rooms: one in The Register Office, Municipal Buildings, Crewe, and one in the Macclesfield Room, Macclesfield Town Hall Extension.
The statutory ceremony rooms offer a basic legal ceremony where the statutory declarations are made and, if you wish, rings can be exchanged. These rooms can accommodate the couple and their two witnesses only. Enhancements are not available in the statutory ceremony rooms or the Mayor's Parlour.
There are several larger ceremony rooms, including the Mayor's Parlour, at the Municipal Buildings and Macclesfield Town Hall that can be booked for ceremonies.
You can book a civil ceremony at the Municipal Buildings, Crewe, or Macclesfield Town Hall up to one year in advance. Information and available dates can be found on the ceremony availability calendar for Crewe and Macclesfield.

Religious ceremony
A religious ceremony may take place in a Church of England church, a Church in Wales church, or another place of worship formally registered for marriages by the Registrar General.
