Report a pothole or other road condition issue

Where there is no immediate danger, you can report potholes, trees, verges or other road and pavement issues online. We will assess the defect and take appropriate action. We post our response to every report online.

Where we have a high volume of weather-related incidents it may take us longer to deal with non-urgent matters. 

We can only deal with issues on our own road network. Report the problem to the owner if the issue is on a private road or on land owned by an organisation (for example, a supermarket car park).

How we manage our roads and what actions we might take 

Our programme of road and pavement repairs and improvements follows the priorities set through our highways asset management and well managed highways infrastructure programmes.

Our repair approach

We use different methods to repair potholes, depending on the type of damage and time of the year. These include spray injection and cut-out-and-patch repairs. Find out more about how we repair roads on our pothole webpage.

At certain times of the year, we can receive higher numbers of reports about potholes and road damage. To help us repair as many defects as possible, we may use temporary repairs. These repairs may not look as neat as a permanent fix, but they are strong enough to keep the road safe. Once the area has been made safe, we assess the defect and decide on the most appropriate long-term repair.
