Current consultations

We are asking residents to share their views on the council setting a budget that safeguards essential services for those in our communities who need our help the most, while working towards maintaining its financial health.

In order to set a budget that provides long-term financial sustainability and delivers the best possible outcomes for the borough, we need to understand what people need, want and expect from their council. And we need them to understand what is achievable.

Since 2009, Cheshire East Council has had a Home Repairs and Adaptations Policy, with the most recent version of this policy published in 2022. This policy sets out several ways the council helps disabled and vulnerable residents to manage their own care and wellbeing at home, by funding repairs and adaptations to their homes so that people can continue living in accessible and safe environments.

The council is proposing to amend this policy so it can meet the severe financial pressures it faces, and to focus the use of council financial resources on statutory services, and on the most vulnerable residents. Proposals include several amendments to the policy, including one which proposes a reduction in discretionary spending (Disabled Facilities Grant).

Cheshire East Council is consulting on its draft Housing Strategy for 2025-2028. This strategy supports the Council’s aims and objectives for housing in the Borough, to improve the choice, quality, and supply of housing for a diverse population, support people to buy or rent their own home, prevent homelessness, improve options for older people and protect the most vulnerable.

Local Nature Recovery Strategy consultation

Local Nature Recovery Strategies will act as the blueprint for how to improve nature in local areas to help wildlife thrive, improve our ecological network, and target investment in nature where it could help us adapt to climate change and improve the places we live, work and play.

The Strategy for Cheshire will cover the whole of Cheshire and include Warrington. It will be led by Cheshire West and Chester Council, supported by Warrington, Cheshire East, Peak District National Park, Natural England and our Local Nature Partnership. There will be multiple stages of consultation as the strategy is progressed

Countryside parks and rangers service

If you have recently attended one of the ranger service events or visited one of the sites we manage, we really want to hear from you. Help us to improve our sites and events by completing our surveys.

Regular consultations

  • Planning validation checklists: view and comment on current planning validation checklists and guidance
  • Conservation area reviews: Areas of Cheshire East considered to have outstanding historic or architectural interest are designated as conservation areas. The Local Planning Authority is required to keep the designation of conservation areas under review
  • Parking reviews and consultations: when we propose major changes to the management of our car parks we carry out parking reviews and public consultations
  • Planning applications: all planning applications received by the council are open to consultation and can be viewed and commented on
  • Planning policy consultations: view and comment on current planning policies and guidance
  • School proposals: comment on proposals in relation to school organisation
  • Premises licence applications: for sale of alcohol, entertainment, gambling premises and street trading and others
  • Traffic Regulation Orders: these are legal documents that govern or restrict the use of public roads, allowing for enforcement to take place. Before a permanent TRO is put in place on the highway, we consult with local stakeholders.
