These improvements are designed to increase service frequency, extend operating hours, improve accessibility, and strengthen connectivity for residents and visitors. Collectively, the enhancements will provide more reliable and convenient public transport options, helping to support sustainable travel, economic growth and social inclusion across the borough. Route 39 service improvement A further vehicle will be introduced on the route 39 bus service between Crewe and Nantwich, serving the communities of Shavington and Hough. This enhancement will increase the daytime frequency of the service to hourly, operating Monday to Saturday. The closure will affect the A54 Macclesfield Road which will prevent the service from accessing the Cat & Fiddle to last between 25 July and 30 October 2026. To maintain a service between Buxton and Macclesfield the bus will divert via Long Hill, Kettleshulme and Rainow with most journeys continuing beyond Macclesfield Bus Station to maintain a service to the Black Road area. Due to the length of this diversion it is not possible for the 58 to maintain service provision to the Burbage area of Buxton during the period of the road closure. Monday to Saturday 28 September 2026 bus enhancements: As part of the Bus Service Improvement Plan (BSIP) Phase 5 programme, Cheshire East Council is investing in a series of targeted enhancements to local bus services. These improvements are designed to increase service frequency, extend operating hours, improve accessibility, and strengthen connectivity for residents and visitors. Collectively, the enhancements will provide more reliable and convenient public transport options, helping to support sustainable travel, economic growth and social inclusion across the borough. Enhancement 2: Introduction of evening services on the Congleton Beartown Network: New evening services will be introduced across the Congleton Beartown network, including routes 90, 91, 92, 93A and 93C. Operating Monday to Saturday, these additional journeys will run approximately every 90 minutes between 18:30 and 22:45. The enhanced provision will significantly improve evening travel opportunities for residents, enabling better access to employment, social, leisure and cultural activities, while supporting those who rely on public transport for essential journeys outside traditional daytime operating hours. Enhancement 3: Introduction of Sunday and Public Holiday Services on the Congleton Beartown Network: Daytime services will be introduced on Sundays and Public Holidays across the Congleton Beartown network, including routes 90, 91, 92 and 93A. This enhancement addresses a longstanding gap in the local bus network and will provide communities with consistent access to public transport seven days a week. The new services will benefit both commuters and leisure travellers, improving connectivity to key destinations, supporting the local economy, and encouraging greater use of sustainable transport options throughout the year. Bus stops and shelters

Passengers can find bus stop timetable displays at over 1089 bus stops in Cheshire East. We try to update displays at bus stops the day before a service change but this can be a few days either side. We put the date at the top of each display to show when it was last updated.

Across Cheshire East 720 stops have raised kerbs installed to make boarding and alighting easier for disabled passengers and passengers with pushchairs.
