391 current and upcoming diversions due to road closures:
13 August 2026: Due to a last minute road closure on Green Lane, Higher Poynton – service 391 is doing the following diversion:
Buses operating the part route between Middlewood and Stockport will be terminating at The Boars Head pub.
Buses operating the full Stockport to Macclesfield route will divert via Anson Road between Middlewood Road and The Boars Head pub and omit Middlewood in its entirety.
Dorchester Way, Tytherington will be closed from 17 until 21 August
For the duration of the closure, service 391 will have to follow the diversion below:
Omit Dorchester Way and continue along Manchester Road, Tytherington. This is the same for both directions.
St Georges Church bus stops:
The temporary traffic lights at the roundels by St. George’s Church means that whilst the 391 is serving the full route, it can not stop at the St. George’s Church bus stops in both directions. Please expect minor delays due to the traffic incurred by these works.
London Road South:
However from 10 until 14 August London Road South will be closed. For the duration of the closure buses will have to take the following diversion. From Chester Road then London Road South, Park Lane, Bulkeley Road, Clumber Road, Dickens Lane then resume normal route from Copperfield Road. This will be the same in both directions.
Chester Road:
Chester Road will be closed on the following dates, 7 August, 17 until 21 August. For the duration of the closure buses will have to take the following diversion. From Dickens Lane then London Road South, London Road, Roy Chadwick Way, A555, Chester Road then resume normal route from Woodford Road. This will be the same in both directions.
Sunday 23 August – Palmerston Street, Bollington
Due to the closure of Palmerston Street, Bollington service 391 will not be able to serve any stops between Pott Shrigley, Springbank Lane until Wagon & Horses, Grimshaw Lane. Buses will divert via Brookledge Lane, London Road A523, Flash Lane & Henshall Road for the duration of the closure.
Tuesday 1 September until Friday 4 September – Shrigley Road North, Higher Poynton
Due to the closure of Shrigley Road North, Higher Poynton service 391 will not be able to serve any stops between Waterloo Road/Coppice Road & The Boar’s Head.
Buses operating the short Stockport to Middlewood route will divert from Hockley via Middlewood Road & Anson Road and then normal route to Middlewood Bus Shelter.
Buses operating the full Stockport to Macclesfield route will have to divert via Coppice Road and resume normal route from Waterloo Road, as vehicles will not make the sharp turn from Middlewood Road onto Coppice Road.
