Care and Repair
Care and Repair is a service for older, disabled or vulnerable people. We guide them through the process of carrying out adaptations in their own home. to qualify, you will need an Occupational Therapy assessment first.
We offer help with organising many types of work, from fitting a stairlift to building an extension.
Services provided free of charge
The following services are provided free of charge:
- technical advice and information about home adaptations
- help to find ways to pay for the home adaptations, and checking your entitlement to benefits
- help with filling in forms for funding applications
- information about other services to help you live independently in your own home
Chargeable services
There is a charge for the following services:
- drawing up plans and specifications so contractors know exactly what is required
- completing planning, building control and highways applications as part of your building work
- helping with employing reputable contractors
- inspecting the completed work before paying the contractor
