Supplementary planning documents add further detail to policies in the development plan and provide further guidance on specific topics or locations.

Draft supplementary planning documents

We recently consulted on the First Draft Local List Supplementary Planning Document and responses can be viewed online. The draft  SPD  seeks to provide guidance on how the council's local list of non-designated heritage assets will be prepared and maintained. We are currently considering the responses.

Adopted supplementary planning documents

The following adopted SPDs are not part of the statutory development plan but may be material considerations when making planning decisions (the weight to be given to the older SPDs will depend on their consistency with current policies). SPDs adopted in 2009 or earlier are only relevant in the area previously covered by the former council that adopted them. The map of former districts shows the areas covered by each former council.

Further planning guidance

In addition to SPDs, a number of other planning guidance documents and development briefs are available, alongside further planning information giving additional information on different aspects of the built environment and the planning system.
