Market Position Statement for Adult Social Care

Cheshire East is committed to working with new and existing service providers and partner organisations to develop a sustainable market that meets local needs and demand for social care and support services. The Market Position Statement aims to provide insight into key market intelligence together with information about the local economy and the current and future plans for adult social care and health.

The current Market Position Statement (PDF, 2MB) includes an overview covering the current and forthcoming commissioning needs. These will be updated with new projects as commissioning strategies are developed.

The following booklet provides an overview of the current commissioned services for Adults’, Children and Public Health Services:

Market Sustainability and Improvement

The Market Sustainability and Improvement Fund (MSIF) is a grant from central government. It's purpose is to support local authorities to maintain and seek further improvements to adult social care services in their area, particularly to build capacity and improve market sustainability.

Our report to the Department for Health and Social Care confirms how the funding has been spent.

Interim position on new Supported Living Developments (August 2025)

We are currently reviewing supported living services across Cheshire East as part of our Transformation programme.

To support providers and developers during this time, we’ve published our interim position on Supported Living Development document (PDF, 160KB). This sets out the current approach and the steps to follow for new schemes.

Extra Care Housing – Needs and Expectations (November 2025)

Extra Care Housing - Needs and Expectations (November 2025 ) (PDF, 1.7MB) provides housing providers and developers an indication of the likely demand and required design of new extra care schemes in the borough. It reflects current thinking in Cheshire East but is not a formal strategy document.
