North West Crewe Package traffic management
Road closures
As part of the works, various closures are required along the A530 Middlewich Road, Flowers Lane, Smithy Lane, and Minshull New Road to safely undertake construction activities.
Following the opening of the Flowers Lane link, the work will move to construct New Bob Brown Way and roundabout 5, under a full closure of the Smithy Lane East from the Bradfield Road junction to east of the Hospital entrance from Monday 4 March 2024 to Friday 19 April 2024. During this time access to the main hospital cark park will be available from A530 Middlewich Road and Smithy Lane West.
The Smithy Lane West/Hospital entrance 2-way signals will be installed Monday 25 March 2024 to Friday 26 April 2024. During this time access to the main hospital carpark will be available from A530 Middlewich Road and Smithy Lane West, but under the control of the 2-way signals.
Access to Leighton Hospital
- For Southbound traffic (from Middlewich), access through the signalled junction at Flowers Lane via new roundabout on the A530 Middlewich Road to Smithy Lane West.
- For Northbound traffic (from Nantwich), access along the A530 and Smithy Lane West.
- The footway access to the hospital entrances will be maintained throughout the works. There will be temporary footway diversion along the east side of Smithy Lane (between Bradfield Road junction and east of the Hospital entrance) during its closure. The footway access will remain unaffected along the west of the Smithy Lane (between A530 Middlewich Road and Hospital entrance).
Reduced Speed Limits and Weight Limits
During the construction period the A530 Middlewich Road between Pyms Lane and Flowers Lane will have a legal order in place for a reduced 30mph speed limit.
Smithy Lane and Minshull New Road have a legal order for a 30mph speed limit.
