North West Crewe Package traffic management

Road closures

Road closures are required along the A530 Middlewich Road, Flowers Lane, Smithy Lane, and Minshull New Road to safely undertake construction activities.

Between May 2022 and March 2023, various full and partial closures will be needed on A530 Middlewich Road between junctions at Pym’s Lane and Flowers Lane. These will be sequenced to ensure residential, business, and hospital access is maintained. Access to the household waste recycling centre will be maintained throughout the works. For the initial closure period, access can only be gained from the south Coppenhall Roundabout.

In the first phase of the Scheme, the construction of roundabouts at Leighton Hall Farm and Smithy Lane will be undertaken as shown in the image below.

Smithy lane

From 9 May 2022 to 28 October 2022, a full closure will be in place along A530 Middlewich Road between junctions at Pym’s Lane and Smithy Lane.

Access to the Leighton Hospital

  • For Southbound traffic (from Middlewich), access through junction at Flowers Lane and via Smithy Lane,
  • For Northbound traffic (from Nantwich), follow diversion route from Alvaston Roundabout as shown in image below.

Reduced Speed Limits and Weight Limits

During the construction period, Smithy Lane and Minshull New Road will have Temporary Traffic Regulation Orders in place for a 20 mph speed limit and 7.5t weight limit.
