The Black Waste Bin

Things that can go in:

Your black bin is for general household waste that can't be recycled.

Try to recycle as much as you can in your silver recycling bin.

Things that can't go in:

We will not collect your bin if you put items in that are hazardous, too large or heavy. This includes:

  • asbestos
  • batteries
  • electrical items
  • fluorescent tubes
  • gas canisters
  • knives and sharp objects
  • lithium-ion batteries (from items including mobile phones, laptops, electric toothbrushes, vapes and wireless earbuds)
  • paint sprays and hazardous aerosols
  • paint
  • rubble or bricks
  • soil or large branches
  • syringes or needles
  • vapes (e-cigarettes)

If you have something to throw away that's not on this list, use our A to Z of what waste goes where to find out how to dispose of it.
