Proposed disposal of playing field land at Wilmslow High School

We consulted local residents about a proposal at Wilmslow High School.The consultation has now closed.

What is being proposed

The proposal was to dispose of a small area of land within the school grounds.

  • The land is a tarmac area
  • It is currently classed as school playing field land
  • The school proposes to use this area to develop padel courts

Why approval is needed

By law, any disposal of playing field land on a school site must be approved by the Secretary of State.

This requirement is set out in Section 77 of the School Standards and Framework Act 1998.

Public consultation

Before an application can be submitted, a public consultation must take place.

  • The consultation ran for 6 weeks
  • From 20 February 2026
  • To 5.00pm on Friday 3 April 2026

The consultation is now closed.

What happens next

All feedback received will be reviewed. A Section 77 application will then be submitted to the Secretary of State for consideration.
