Designated teacher training
Designated teachers play a vital role in supporting the educational achievement and wellbeing of cared for children. These young people often face unique challenges, and having a dedicated professional in school who understands their needs can be transformative.
Throughout the academic year we provide various opportunities for training, each of which is designed to equip designated teachers with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to advocate effectively for cared for children and care leavers, ensuring they thrive in education and beyond.
In addition to 1:1 support from your virtual school advisor, we host annual training across the Local Authority for all designated teachers who work with any of our young people. In addition, we also provide specific training for those colleagues who are new to their role. Below you will find copies of, and links to, our training from the previous academic year. If you’d like to talk these through with someone from the team please contact your allocated virtual school advisor.
