The method used to allocate funding for cared for children is on a ‘needs led’ basis where schools can request the amount needed to carry out the support and interventions which have been identified as necessary.
This approach has been implemented as the needs of children vary considerably and having a standard allocation provides too much funding for some children and not enough for others. The allocation of Pupil Premium+ will be utilised by schools to enact the necessary interventions (academic, therapeutic and otherwise) to ensure our Cared for Children make progress that is comparable to their non-Cared for peers.
The Virtual School can advise as to particular agencies, provisions and professionals who can provide support once Pupil Premium+ requests have been approved.
