Fire safety
Landlords are responsible for ensuring that the properties meet fire safety standards. All domestic property owners have a duty to:
- carry out a fire risk assessments
- provide smoke alarms on each floor of your home
- make sure furniture and appliances they provide are safe
- sort out repairs for faulty gas appliances, pipework or electric wiring

Council and Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service responsibilities
The Council and Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service each have responsibilities for enforcing fire safety. The Council has the lead responsibility in residential properties.
