Booths Bridge, Cheadle Lane, Plumley
Booths Bridge, Cheadle Lane, Plumley (location shown on the map below) was demolished to prevent it from collapsing into the main river.
We have now started works to construct the replacement bridge.
What is happening
Works to construct the new bridge are currently underway and are scheduled to be completed by late Spring 2026.
The works will include the following:
- Sinking of piles to support the bridge structure
- Installation of beam bridge deck
- Construction of bridge parapet, using materials reclaimed from the demolished bridge
- Resurfacing of the road surface
Road closures and diversions
Under current Health and Safety legislation and for the safety of our workforce and members of the public, it will be necessary for the road closure to be in place from the junction with Trouthall Lane and Patmos Lane.
The diversion route will remain in place until the works have been completed.
Pedestrians and cyclists will need to follow the signed diversion route.
You can view roadworks and diversion routes on our roadworks page.
