Fungi foray in the Carrs

Description

Dave Winnard, a professional ecologist, will be leading a 2-hour nature walk through the Wilmslow Carrs on behalf of the Friends of the Carrs.

Join us for a fungi walk where we will explore the magical world of mushrooms and their allies, looking at the variety of species that occur on the Carrs and learning about their role in the eco-system. It will be a hands on walk, really understanding how we identify certain species with their appearance and even smell. This walk will open your eyes to vast world hidden under your feet that is the kingdom of fungi.

Expect to learn how to identify species, how they fit into the wider eco-system, and any mythology and folklore that may be associated with them.

Booking and payment in advance is essential. Adults £10, children 16 or under go free.
