Palmerston Street, Bollington - traffic signal improvements

We are carrying out traffic signals improvements at the junction of B590 Palmerston Street / Clarence Road / Water Street, Bollington. The work will include replacing old cables, poles, and traffic signals with new, improved equipment.

When the work is happening

Works to replace the outdated traffic signals equipment is scheduled to start on 18 August 2025, and will take approximately 15 working days to complete, excluding weekends.

Temporary traffic signals with lane closures will be in place for 24 hours a day during the works period.

A road closure will be in place from 27 August to 28 August between the hours of 09:30am and 15:30pm.

Under current Health & Safety legislation and for the safety of our workforce and members of the public, it will be necessary for a temporary reduced speed limit to be in place for part of  these works.

We understand there is no right time to undertake this work however, the scheme has been carefully planned to minimise any inconvenience to you and other road users.

Diversion route

Specific signed diversions will be in place from 27 August to 28 August between the hours of 09:30am and 15:30pm and members of the public are advised to follow this. Alternatively, a breakdown of the full diversion route can be found on one.network.

  • A letter drop will take place and those who are directly impacted by these works have been informed
  • Emergency vehicle access are being facilitated through the closure dates
  • The road closure and temporary traffic signals are necessary to protect the safety of both members of the public and our workforce while we complete the most complex aspects of the scheme
  • Diversion routes are in place and signed to assist in the movement of traffic while works progress
  • Local businesses remain open and access will be facilitated where possible via diversion routes
  • Delays are expected and motorists should plan journeys accordingly
