Public consultation

The Poynton Relief Route Options Consultation took place from 2 June 2014 to 28 July 2014.

The route options consultation asked broader questions about the proposed development to gauge overall opinion of the proposal and a preference of route option.

A total of 11,700 questionnaires and leaflets were delivered across the local area and we received 1,818 responses.

The main aims of the consultation were to:

  • inform the people in the area of the scheme
  • gauge public opinion of the scheme and the route options
  • provide an opportunity for the public to feed into and shape the early development of the scheme, and identify the preferred route

A523 London Road improvements consultation:

The A523 London Road improvements consultation took place through summer 2015 and was focused largely on the proposals at key junctions along the A523 London Road.

The main aims of the consultation were to:

  • show details of the developing A523 Junction Improvements
  • provide the opportunity to comment on the concerns of the impact of Poynton Relief Road on the A523
  • give the public the opportunity to give feedback to shape the development of the A523 Junction Improvements, and identification of preferred options

Pre-Planning application consultation

The Poynton Relief Road pre-planning application Consultation took place from 5 October 2015 to 30 November 2015. A total of 11,700 questionnaires and leaflets were delivered across the local area and we received 1,287 responses.

The main aims of the consultation were to:

  • inform the people in the area of the scheme and gauge their opinions
  • to give the public and stakeholders an opportunity to suggest design options

Summary

The responses from the Pre-Application Consultation indicated that there is overwhelming support for the scheme with approximately 95% of those that responded being in favour of the relief road proposals (either fully or partly).
