New deputy leader, mayor and deputy mayor elect

At a meeting of full council on Tuesday 27 February, members elected Councillor Michael Gorman as deputy leader of the Council. Councillor Gorman represents Wilmslow West and Chorley and has recently been elected as leader of the independent group. He has most recently also served as vice-chair of finance sub committee.

Council also nominated Councillor Marilyn Houston as Mayor of Cheshire East and Councillor David Edwardes as Deputy Mayor for the civic year 2024/25. They will be formally elected at the Annual General Meeting of Council in May.
