Council’s MyCareView project gains further recognition
11 March 2022
Cheshire East Council’s online health and wellbeing system MyCareView has achieved further national recognition by winning another award.
The latest success for the healthcare app came in the form of the Gold Award at the iESE Public Sector Transformation Awards 2022 in London on Wednesday. It was for the ‘Best Use of Digital and Technology’.
MyCareView is a patient-first initiative, which is available through the NHS App. It is currently providing nearly 40,000 people in the borough access to the healthcare services and data held about them in primary and secondary care.
Patients can add information to their record, exercise control over how their information is shared, and use it as a secure communications tool.
MyCareView is a partnership project between Cheshire East Council and NHS Cheshire Clinical Commissioning Group.
In October, MyCareView won an award in the category of Patient Facing Digital Solutions at the Health Tech Awards 2021. This latest success comes as recognition of the app’s “innovative use of digital tools and technology that lead to an improved outcome and build dynamic local public services”.
Dr Matt Tyrer, director of public health at Cheshire East Council, said: “We’re absolutely thrilled to win this award, and to be recognised for our innovative approach to empowering patients through technology. It’s especially pleasing to be recognised for our great work by colleagues in the public sector.
“Through MyCareView, nearly 40,000 residents of Cheshire East have been able to take control of their health and care information, and with the NHS App they have the convenience of accessing it through their smartphones. It’s a great initiative and has been a tremendous success for Cheshire East.”
Congleton GP and project clinical lead Dr Ian Hulme said: “We’re proud of this award as it demonstrates that, when it comes to thinking differently about how people can take charge of their own health and wellbeing, Cheshire East is leading the way.
“MyCareView continues to be of great benefit to patients across the borough, and we’re very pleased that this has been recognised on a national scale."
