Fostering Recruitment Champions

Cheshire East Council to host fostering recruitment champions business event

16 May 2022

As part of national Foster Care Fortnight, Cheshire East Council is inviting local businesses and charitable organisations to attend a fostering recruitment champions lunchtime event.

The free business partners event will take place at Macclesfield Town Hall on Friday 20 May from 12 noon to 1.00pm.

Attendees will be provided with a useful networking opportunity with other business partners, and to meet with director of children’s services, Kerry Birtles, fostering staff and foster carers.

There will be a short presentation with more information about the different levels and opportunities to become involved in the ‘Together for Fostering’ champions scheme so organisations can support the council to raise awareness of the vital work foster carers do.

Cllr Kathryn Flavell 250 x 350Councillor Kathryn Flavell, lead member for children and families at Cheshire East Council, said: “We know businesses play an important role in our local community and that they might be well placed to help us to promote fostering and recruit even more fosters carers.

“Signing up to become a ‘Together for Fostering’ recruitment champion will provide the council with more assistance to meet the growing demand for safe foster homes for some of our most vulnerable children and young people.

“You may not be in a position to foster yourself, but you probably know someone who could, or they may be someone in your workforce who could, or already does foster.”

To register support and confirm attendance at the event where a light lunch will be provided, please reply by email stating any dietary requirements to: fosteringservice@cheshireeast.gov.uk
