Cheshire East Council launches ‘Made in Cheshire East’ to celebrate and champion local businesses

 1 April 2026

Cheshire East Council has launched a new initiative – Made in Cheshire East – to celebrate the diverse and innovative businesses that shape the borough’s economy.

From world‑leading manufacturers and innovative tech start‑ups to long‑established family firms, Cheshire East is home to a host of business excellence.

The council’s Made in Cheshire East initiative will shine a spotlight on these businesses through visits from senior council representatives, highlighting their achievements and the contribution they make to local communities.

The programme will showcase businesses of all sizes and sectors – from those crafting globally recognised products to those delivering essential local services or investing in home‑grown talent.

Mannion - Nick - Macclesfield West and Ivy - Lab 250x313pxCouncillor Nick Mannion, leader of Cheshire East Council, said: “Cheshire East is home to an outstanding range of businesses that contribute enormously to our local economy and our communities.

“Made in Cheshire East is about recognising that strength, showcasing success and helping to create the conditions for businesses to continue to grow.

“We want to highlight the innovation, skills and ambition that exist across the borough and ensure our business community has the visibility and support it needs to thrive.”

Holmes Chapel-based Bespak – which has transformed its London Road site into a world class pharmaceutical manufacturing hub that makes sustainable inhalers – will be the first business to be showcased, with a visit planned for early this month.

Gorman-Michael-223x280Cllr Michael Gorman, deputy leader of Cheshire East Council, said: “By bringing these success stories to the forefront, Made in Cheshire East aims to promote the borough as an excellent place to start, grow and sustain a business.

“We also want to recognise the positive contribution businesses make each day and ensure their achievements are visible, valued and championed.”

The initiative focuses on the stories behind local success, including:

  • The organisations that fuel economic growth and support the region’s competitiveness.
  • The skilled people who design, make, innovate and deliver.
  • The entrepreneurs whose ambition drives new opportunities.
  • The key sectors that anchor the local economy, including advanced manufacturing, digital, creative industries, clean energy, logistics and agri‑food.

Alongside celebrating success, the initiative will highlight the support offered to businesses across Cheshire East, including council-led support.

The council will also continue working with regional partners to ensure businesses can benefit from future opportunities linked to devolution, including potential access to new investment, enhanced local decision‑making and programmes designed to support growth, skills and productivity.
