Projects and Services funded through Community Grants

Cheshire East Council prides itself on supporting the Voluntary Community, Faith and Social Enterprise (VCFSE) Sector.

Having a responsive grants process, a good relationship with the sector and a shared understanding of meeting either existing or emerging needs of the community, allows for systematic partnership working. The needs of our communities can change and the need to pilot and test service delivery to sense check what works in what areas are important. We aim to do this through grant allocation.

We want to ensure Cheshire East residents are aware of services and opportunities available to them.

This page has been created to ensure the grant funded provision is accessed by those who need it most. The project information given below is only a small part of what the individual organisations do and timescales vary for each organisation. Contact them direct if you would like further information.

Healthy Neighbourhoods Fund, funded by the Better Care Fund, Integrated Care Board

NHS logo

System Partners including the Integrated Care Board (ICB), Primary Care, Acute Trusts, Local Authority, and VCFSE representatives worked together to create healthier neighbourhoods in Cheshire East, developing a blueprint for what the system aimed to achieve by 2030. As part of these developments, system leaders recognised that supporting good health and wellbeing required the right services in the right places to foster healthy neighbourhoods.

The Healthy Neighbourhoods Fund was developed in Cheshire East to help reduce health inequalities and support the creation of a sustainable health and care system. This fund built on work undertaken by Care Communities, supporting individuals who were frail and high-intensity users of primary care services. To ensure geographical balance, the programme aimed to support at least one organisation per care community area.

Applications were considered from organisations for local projects that met local needs and aligned with the fund’s objectives.

The objectives of the Healthy Neighbourhoods fund were:

  • Support for integrated care and community-based interventions.
  • Reduction of avoidable hospital admissions or escalation of care.
  • Improvement in quality of life and independence for people living with frailty and those identified as high-intensity service users.
