Reporting scams

You could prevent others from falling victim to a scam by reporting them. Only 5% of scams are currently reported, so it is vital that people report them if they suspect a scam or they or someone they know has fallen victim to one.

The Citizens Advice Consumer Service will notify Trading Standards. Action Fraud will collate the information and pass it on to the Police service where the issues are originating from.

Tell your bank

If you’ve lost money or you think a fraudster has access to your bank account, tell your bank as soon as possible, so they can protect your account and help you get your money back.

Always contact them directly using a known email or phone number, such as the ones shown on their website or the back of your card, or call 159.
