Book a slot: when you need to book and how

There is a booking system for visiting our mobile household waste recycling centres (HWRCs).

Book a slot at a mobile household waste recycling centre

You can book a slot up to 30 days in advance. These slots have been worked out to maximise the number of vehicles that are able to visit the sites.

What we will accept at our mobile HWRCs

Mobile HWRCs are for domestic waste only – we will not accept trade or commercial waste.

We will accept the following materials at mobile HWRCs:

  • cans, tins, paper, card, glass bottles and jars for recycling
  • bagged black bin waste
  • bulky furniture items that can fit in your car - we ask that these are broken down into smaller pieces (we will accept small sofas, but these should not be broken down into pieces)
  • mattresses
  • small electrical or electronic equipment, such as kettles, hair dryers or microwaves
  • fridges
  • garden waste

What we won't accept at our mobile HWRCs

We will not accept the following materials (this is not an exhaustive list):

  • rubble or DIY materials
  • plasterboard
  • soil
  • chemicals or paint
  • tyres
  • engine oil or cooking oil
  • fluorescent tubes
  • gas canisters of any type
  • asbestos
  • furniture containing glass
  • mixed food and garden waste
  • household waste that is not from your own address
  • household waste that someone else has been paid to get rid of

1. Register for an account or sign in

You will need to register for an account or sign in to our waste portal - this is the same portal used for subscriptions to our garden waste recycling scheme. If you already have a garden waste subscription, you can use the same email address and password.

The waste services portal is not the same as your Cheshire East Council ‘my account’, which is used for things like council tax.

Once you have registered for a waste services account, you will need to click 'Register my property' before you can view available services.

If you are unable to access the portal online, call our customer services team on: 0300 123 5011.

2. Make your booking

Once you’ve registered and signed in, you’ll see a box on the left-hand side of the homepage that says ‘recycling centre visit’. If you can't see the box, it may be that you have not yet registered your property.

Click the ‘Book recycling centre’ tab to begin booking your slot.

From the dropdown box, you’ll need to select the mobile HWRC you would like to visit, the date you’d like to visit, and pick an available time slot.

You’ll then need to provide your name, email address and vehicle registration. It is important that you enter the registration number of the vehicle you intend to use for your visit. If you are arriving by bike or on foot, please enter this information here instead.

There is no limit on the number of visits or bookings you can make. However, you cannot book back-to-back slots or book a new slot until your original booking is cancelled or has passed.

Residents can visit our mobile HWRCs by car or on foot but cannot use vans or commercial vehicles for their visits.

3. What to bring with you on the day

Once you’ve confirmed the details, you will be given a confirmation code on screen, which will also be emailed to you. You will need to provide this code when you arrive at the HWRC for your visit.

If you are travelling by car, you will also need to travel in the vehicle you registered on your booking. This is because we’ll check the registration plate against your booking.

If you need to change or cancel your booking

If you need to cancel your booking, you can use the cancellation link in your confirmation email. Alternatively, you can sign into the waste portal and cancel that way. You can then rebook another slot if you need it. It is important to cancel your booking if you can't make the visit, as this allows another person to use the slot.
