Information you need to supply to the Register Office
To help us to deal with your request please provide the following information:
- Full name, postal address, email address and contact telephone number of the applicant
- Name at the time of birth
- Date of birth
- Place of birth
- Names of both parents at the time of the birth
- Names of both parties
- The name of the building where the marriage took place
- Date of marriage
- Date of death
- Place of death
- Full name of the deceased

A full copy of a birth, death, marriage or civil partnership entry - £11.00
Please make all Registration cheques payable to: Cheshire East Borough Council. Payments should be made on or before the day of the service. Most of the services we provide are exempt from VAT, where VAT is applicable the VAT-inclusive charge is shown. If you are posting your cheque please send it to the Register Office.

Records of certificates
In the Cheshire East area (which is made up of the former Macclesfield, Congleton and Crewe and Nantwich Borough Councils) certificates are held at the Cheshire East Register Office in Crewe. There are no records held at the Macclesfield Registration Office.

Certificates are normally available for collection or posting out within 5 working days.
Cheshire East Registration Service does not accept liability for any certificates lost in the post.
Certificates not collected within three months will be destroyed.
If you need a certificate more urgently
We offer a next day collection service. The fee for this is £35 in These certificates will be available to collect on the next working day.
We also offer a premium service for same day issue of duplicate certificates to be issued within one hour. There is an administration fee of £15 in addition to the cost of the certificate, currently £35.
The correct information needs to be supplied by the applicant to allow the Register Office staff to locate the entry.

Do I need an original copy of my certificate? Will a copy suffice?
The Cheshire East Registration Service will only provide you with a fully certified copy of your registration. The certified copy certificates supplied are the same type as those issued upon initial registration.
If you have been told that an original copy of a certificate is required for a particular purpose, it is likely that a copy certificate will suffice. However this should be confirmed with the organisation requesting sight of the certificate.
