Duplicate Birth, Death, Marriage and Civil Partnership Certificates
Changes implemented to the Government IT system used to register births, deaths, marriages and civil partnerships has introduced system instability. Consequently, we are only currently able to offer a limited Duplicate Certificate service.
We are sorry for any inconvenience or distress that this may cause. The General Register Office is currently unable to provide a timescale for when the system will be restored to a reliable and stable state.
If you require a birth, marriage/civil partnership or death certificate from on or before 31 December 2019, these can be obtained from General Register Office
If you are applying for a certificate for a birth, death, marriage or civil partnership that took place on or after 1 January 2020, you can submit an application using the relevant link below:
Birth on or after 1 January 2020
Death on or after 1 January 2020
Marriage/civil partnership on or after 1 January 2020
