Gypsy and Traveller research and evidence

This page gives details of research and evidence related to planning for Gypsy and Traveller needs.

Cheshire Gypsy, Traveller and Travelling Showpeople accommodation assessment 2018

Opinion Research Services has completed a 2018 Gypsy and Traveller Accommodation Assessment (PDF, 3MB), on a sub-regional basis and in line with the requirements of the Housing Act 2004, the National Planning Policy Framework 2012 and Planning Policy for Traveller Sites 2015.

The study provides up-to-date evidence about the accommodation needs of Gypsies, Travellers and Travelling Showpeople in the study area up to 2032, with a split in the figures shown at 2030 to reflect the local plan period for Cheshire East.

Note: following the publication of the GTAA (July 2018), the report has been updated. The changes made have been highlighted on page 2 of the updated report (August 2018). All other elements of the report remain the same. The changes made have not resulted in changes to the overall levels of need that have been identified for additional pitches in the borough.
