Lifestyle on prescription
Lifestyle on Prescription aims to encourage small and manageable lifestyle changes, showing that common conditions such as high blood pressure, pre-diabetes, poor mental health and even the menopause can be improved through behaviour change. By having ‘lifestyle on prescription’ it may reduce the need for treatment and stop you having health problems in the future.
There is an array of local and national support available, some of which we have included in the tool. We worked alongside pharmacists, social prescribers, doctors and local residents, with input from the NHS, council and Voluntary, Community, Faith and Social Enterprises colleagues (VCFSE) to develop the resource. We also piloted it back in January 2023.
The tool looks at:
- Smoking
- Alcohol
- Mental wellbeing
- Enjoying nature, getting active
- Eating well
- Good sleep
- Connecting with your community
Absolutely anybody can use this tool – it is intended to assist and enable conversations around lifestyle choices and behaviour change. So, whether you have just been diagnosed with a new long-term condition, you have just started a new treatment, you are due to have surgery or you just want to take that first step in thinking about making one small change, please download from the links below and let’s talk about Lifestyle and making that change.
