Local drug and substance misuse support services

Lifestyle on Prescription aims to encourage lifestyle changes, showing that common conditions can be improved through behaviour changes.

If you are worried about your own drug use or the drug use of a friend or family member, you can seek confidential information, advice and counselling from the Cheshire East Substance Misuse Service.

Change Grow Live (CGL)

Change Grow Live is a health and social care charity that works with individuals who want to change their lives for the better and achieve positive and life affirming goals.

Opening hours:

  • Monday - Friday: 10am to 2pm
  • Tuesday Crewe site extended opening until 7.00pm
  • Wednesday Macclesfield site extended opening until 7.00pm

The recovery teams are based across the Cheshire East and include doctors, recovery coordinators, nurses, recovery champions, peer mentors and volunteers.

Triaging

The service operates on an open access basis - you can walk in to Change Grow Live Macclesfield or Crewe office between 10am to 2pm, Monday to Friday, to be triaged. If you would prefer a telephone assessment, then you can also call the service on the number above.

Eligibility criteria

The service is available for the residents Cheshire East and is an all age service available for both young people and adults. The eligibility criteria is as follows:

  • Any age, gender, sexuality, race, religion
  • Any substance (drugs and alcohol)
  • Must reside in the Cheshire East locality
  • Need to be registered with a GP (prescriptions can’t be provided if not registered with a GP)

Services include

  • Structured Treatment
  • Harm reduction advice and brief interventions
  • Needle and Syringe Programme
  • Psychosocial Intervention - group work and 1:1 Counselling
  • Family Groups

Satellite clinic locations

CGL are also operating satellite clinics across different venues in the community. Currently the following locations are available to attend prebooked appointments once you have a treatment plan in place.

Open Arms Youth Project, Wilmslow

Mondays – 9am to 5pm

Beech House, Congleton

Mondays – 9am to 5pm

Thursdays – 9am to 5pm

Plus Dane Wellbeing Hub, Congleton

Tuesdays – 9am to 5pm

Fridays - 9am to 5pm

Waters Green Medical Centre, Macclesfield

Tuesdays – 9am to 12:30pm

Thursdays - 9am to 12:30pm

Young People's Service

Change Grow Live Cheshire East also have a team dedicated to supporting young people and families who may be struggling with drugs or alcohol, supporting young people aged under 25. Get in touch with CGL via phone, email or walk in to see a CGL member of staff to enquire about the young person’s service. Parents and carers can also get in touch for advice and guidance.

Referrals

If you would like to refer yourself or someone else to the service you can call, email or visit the service in person during open access times.

You can complete the Change Grow Live referral form (MS Word, 64KB) in advance and either email to cheshireeast.referrals@cgl.cjsm.net or bring it with you when you visit the service.
