Cheshire East runs a Supported Internship Programme in partnership with seven education providers, including Colleges, Schools and Training Providers. The role of the Job Coach is key to the success of the programme.
The main goal of this programme is to support young people between the age of 16-24 with a learning disability and/or autism to progress into paid work with the support from a Job Coach.
What a Job Coach does
The Job Coach is key to the success of the programme.
They support interns by:
- helping them learn new tasks
- supporting the development of communication
- increasing confidence and independence
- helping young people travel independently
- Monitoring progress and fading support at the right time
Why become a Job Coach
If you are looking for a new challenge and want to make a huge difference to the lives of young people with a disability, this could be the role for you. You will work with these young people, their family, and the education provider from the beginning of the Supported Internship journey, right through to seeing these young people progress into paid work. What could be more rewarding!

Working hours and patterns
Job Coaches usually work on a term time basis. Part time and fulltime hours available.
