Reviewing claims for discounts and exemptions
We review claims for discounts and exemptions regularly to make sure that our records are up to date and to help identify fraudulent claims among Council Tax payers who are attempting to cheat the system.
We have a duty to protect public funds, and take Council Tax fraud very seriously.
If you get a letter, please respond if required telling us your current circumstances so that we can update our records. If you don’t respond when requested, we might stop your reduction and investigate further.
If you have received a review letter for a reduction that you are claiming and your circumstances have changed please complete the Council Tax review form to update our records.
