Register of gifts and hospitality
Cheshire East Councillor Code of Conduct requires elected members to declare all gifts and hospitality offered to them irrespective of value, whether accepted or refused.
Gifts and hospitality may be accepted when on a scale appropriate to the circumstances, and where it is apparent that no cause could reasonably arise for adverse criticism about the acceptance of the gift or hospitality. Hospitality is usually acceptable when the invitation is corporate not personal.
As good practice, the council maintains and publishes a Register of Gifts and Hospitality, which is maintained by the Monitoring Officer.
