The Guild for Lifelong Learning

The Guild for Lifelong Learning

Project overview

With your support, we will be able to provide our participants and teachers with the tools they need to succeed in an increasingly digital world creating a more inclusive and accessible environment for our participants and visiting community groups and charities. We will provide all six teaching rooms with a Windows 11 desktop PC.

What support is needed

We believe that we're making a positive difference in our community by delivering social activities that help to improve people's lives. We would like to apply for funding to enhance our offerings, facilities, and services. Investing in new technology for our classrooms is essential to maintaining our reputation for excellence in community lifelong learning. We are looking for help to purchase hardware recourses, ideally a desktop PC, for each of our five classrooms and potentially upgrade our laptop for the larger community hall.

What difference would it make to our project?

The Guild exists to bring communities together and reduce social isolation. With your support, we anticipate a positive impact with several positive outcomes.

This project aims to enrich our community offerings, improve our facilities, and elevate the services we provide by supporting innovative teaching methods, enhancing participation and engagement, and improving health and well-being outcomes. We know that older participants have reported improved mental and physical well-being due to the engaging and interactive activities we offer. We hope that interactive and engaging technology will foster greater social interaction and further reduce feelings of isolation among older adults in and outside of the classroom environment.

The Guild has always been dedicated to advancing community connections by supporting various local community groups and charities through facilitating workshops and educational programs. Help to invest in new technology will enable us to provide up to date facilities and resources. This will empower us to further support other valuable community groups and charities more effectively, fostering a stronger, more connected community.

We expect to offer space and resources to other community and charity groups several times throughout the year benefiting at least 200 local residents. We will benefit our existing participants totalling 2,000 per year plus with new technology we should an increase of 10% in new enrolments.

Areas in which we need help:

  1. Chelford, Handforth, Alderley Edge & Wilmslow.
