Club gaming and club machine permits
A club gaming permit allows certain gaming activities and up to 3 gaming machines.
A club machine permit allows up to 3 gaming machines and is available if a club only wants gaming machines.

Non-machine gaming
Commercial clubs cannot provide non-machine gaming except where exempt gaming rules apply.
Poker
The following limits apply:
- the maximum stake per person, per game, is £10
- the total amount staked in one day must not exceed £250
- the total amount staked over 7 days must not exceed £1,000
- the maximum prize for a game is £250
Bridge, whist and other gaming
The maximum participation fee a club can charge for a particular type of game in one day is:
- £18 for bridge or whist, if no other gaming facilities are provided that day
- £1 where bridge or whist is offered alongside other gaming on the same day
- £3 for a commercial club that holds a club machine permit

Do not apply for a permit if you have, or think you may need, a premises licence.
