Cheshire East is an important base of financial services companies. As well as key financial services companies including Barclays and Royal London with major operations in the area, close proximity to Manchester and Liverpool positions the area close to other regional financial services centres. This offers a base from which to develop new technologies in fintech. Barclays developed its ‘Pingit’ app from its Global Technology Centre in Cheshire East. This centre focuses on developing new technologies and applications, particularly related to mobile banking.
The area has a growing cluster of diverse fintech companies. There is growing number of innovative companies developing services across a range of fintech applications. This includes Boldon James (part of Qinetiq) developing technologies for secure messaging solutions and Mobica, a Sunday Times ‘100 Tech Track’ company designing software for mobile payment solutions.
Cheshire East has deep and broad software sector. This makes the area an ideal location for a wide range of companies ranging from software development to outsourced IT support services.
The local software sector is represented by companies including Fujitsu and SAP, to Trak Global developing software and telematic solutions for the insurance sector.
Cheshire East is a cost-effective location for ‘North-Shoring’.
