Cheshire East Council waste composition study
A waste composition study will be carried out between 19 October and 30 October 2026 on behalf of Cheshire East Council by Intergrated Skills Limited.
The study will help us understand what types of waste and recycling are being collected from households across the borough. The findings will be used to identify opportunities to:
- increase recycling rates
- reduce waste sent for disposal
- improve future waste and recycling services
Residents do not need to take any action and should continue to recycle and dispose of waste as usual.
Privacy and handling of waste
The study cannot identify individual households. Waste from multiple properties is mixed together during collection, so it is not possible to determine where specific items have come from.
After the analysis is complete:
- any recyclable materials identified will be sent for recycling
- any remaining waste will be managed through the usual disposal processes
The police and the council's contact centre have been informed about the study.
