Supported Internships graduation ceremony

On 8th July we hosted our Supported Internships graduation ceremony, celebrating the amazing achievements of young people who hold an Education Health and Care Plan (EHCP) that have carried out an internship at a local organisation.

As always it was inspiring to witness the increase in confidence in these individuals, as well as the boost to their social, transferable and employability skills.

The programme offers a fantastic opportunity for individuals to develop their skills and earn real-life work experience, while being guided by a job coach. The aim for the interns is to secure paid work following the 12 month programme.

Local employers who have taken up this scheme include Crewe Hall, Siemens, Waitrose, and Swansway Group, and it’s been amazing to see so many of our employers really embracing the scheme and finding the perfect fit for their organisation.

Overall this was a really heart-warming event which helped to re-affirm how important it is to tackle the missing link of work/employment opportunities for those with SEND and neurodiverse conditions, disabilities, and autistic spectrum conditions.

A huge thank you to our Supported Internships team at the council who help to open up these opportunities to our young people in Cheshire East with an EHCP, from last night it’s obvious to see that the work you do is making a real difference.
