Supported Employment
Cheshire East Council Supported Employment team delivers the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) Connect to Work programme which supports people who are disabled, have long-term health conditions or complex non-health related barriers to work.
Participants do not need to be on benefits and Connect to Work can support participants for up to 12 months.
Our support stages include:
- Goal setting: You will be helped to set personalised job goals and make a plan to get you there.
- Job finding: You will get help searching for jobs, making applications and interview preparation. Your employment specialist will work directly with employers to find the right job for you.
- Complete job support: Once in work your employment specialist will support you and your employer in the workplace to make your step into work easier.
If you are already employed and would like help to remain in your job, due to health barriers, Connect to Work employment specialists can support you for up to 4-months.

Supported Internships
Supported Internships are a structured study programme based primarily at an employer. They enable young people aged 16-24 with an active Education Health and Care Plan (EHCP), to achieve sustainable paid employment by equipping them with the skills they need for work, through learning in the workplace. Supported Internships are unpaid, and last for a minimum of six months.
Employment is a key ingredient for real social inclusion. We are committed to supporting people with disabilities to gain independence through work.
