Congleton Family Hub expands support for local children and families

Families in Congleton are set to benefit from enhanced facilities and expanded support services following the refurbishment of Congleton Family Hub, including the introduction of a new sensory room and improved outdoor play space.
The investment will help create even more opportunities for children and young people to learn, play and thrive, while making it easier for families to access a wide range of support and advice in one welcoming location.
The improvements were officially celebrated at a community launch event on 21 September, bringing together families, partners and local organisations. Children and young people enjoyed a variety of free activities, including balloon modelling, circus skills workshops, outdoor adventures and arts and crafts, while parents and carers had the opportunity to learn more about the support available to them through local services.
The enhanced sensory facilities and outdoor play area have been designed to provide inclusive, engaging spaces that support children's development, including those with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). The additional space will also enable more activities, support sessions and partner-led services to be delivered from the hub.
Congleton Family Hub is part of Cheshire East's network of Family Hubs, which bring together council, health and community services to provide support for families with children and young people aged 0 to 19, and up to 25 for those with special educational needs and disabilities. By offering a range of services under one roof, Family Hubs help families access the right support at the right time.
The hub is home to a growing network of partners delivering services that support children, young people and families at every stage of life. This includes family support, health services, speech and language support, physiotherapy, SEND advice, parenting support, youth provision and community-based activities.
The impact of this support is already being felt across the local community. Between 1 April 2025 and 31 March 2026, 4,508 children, young people and families accessed support services across the Congleton and Holmes Chapel Family Hub catchment area, including those engaging through partner early years settings. Almost one in five (19.3 per cent) of those accessing support were from the area's most disadvantaged communities, demonstrating the hub's success in reaching families who may benefit most from early help and targeted support.
Alongside partner services, families can also access core Family Hub support including midwifery appointments, health visitor clinics, breastfeeding and nutrition advice, Start for Life activities, mental health support and child development sessions.
Congleton is one of six Family Hubs across Cheshire East, alongside Oakenclough, Ash Grove, Monks Coppenhall, Oak Tree and Crewe Lifestyle Family Hub. For those unable to visit a hub in person, a comprehensive digital offer is available, ensuring families can access information, advice and support online whenever they need it.
Councillor Laura Crane, Cheshire East Council's cabinet member for children's services, said: “This is fantastic news for children, young people and families in Congleton. The improvements to the Family Hub, including the new sensory room and enhanced outdoor play space, will help create a welcoming place where families can learn, play and get the support they need.
“Family Hubs offer a wide range of services all in one place, from health and parenting support to activities for children and young people, SEND advice and opportunities to meet other local families. The extra space will allow even more support sessions, groups and activities to take place, making it easier for families to access help when they need it.
