Cheshire East children’s home rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted
8 January 2026
A Cheshire East Council-run children’s home has been rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted following its latest inspection, with inspectors commending the team’s commitment to delivering high quality care and support.
The inspection, carried out in December 2025, found that children feel happy, safe, and well-supported in the home. Their voices are listened to and respected, ensuring they play an active role in decisions about their lives.
Inspectors highlighted the home’s strong advocacy for children, noting that staff work proactively with families and partner agencies to meet individual needs. The report praised the team for knowing the children well and securing the best outcomes.
The inspection also highlighted staff stability – no staff have left since the home was registered. This consistency provides children with a sense of security and continuity, which is vital for their wellbeing.
Councillor Laura Crane, chair of Cheshire East Council’s children and families committee, said: “This Ofsted rating reflects the dedication and professionalism of our staff, who work tirelessly to create a nurturing and supportive environment for children. We are proud of the positive difference they make every day.”
The home provides care for up to three children who may experience social and/or emotional difficulties. At the time of inspection, two children were living at the home, and both spoke positively about their experiences.
Cheshire East Council owns two children’s homes which are both rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted.
As part of its ongoing improvement journey, the council is actively recruiting passionate and skilled children’s social workers to join its team. These permanent roles offer the opportunity to make a lasting difference in the lives of children and families while helping to address national shortages in the profession.
