Armed Forces Week flag raising in Macclesfield and Crewe
16 June 2026
Residents, businesses, and visitors are warmly invited to come together to mark the start of Armed Forces Week with a special flag-raising ceremony at Memorial Square in Crewe and at Macclesfield Town Hall.
The Armed Forces Day flag will be raised at 10am in Crewe and at 2pm in Macclesfield on Monday 22 June, in a visible show of support for the men and women who make up the Armed Forces community, including currently serving personnel, veterans, reservists and their families.
Cheshire East Council Armed Forces Champion councillor (Major) Anthony Harrison said: “Armed Forces Week is a national opportunity to recognise the dedication, bravery, and sacrifice of those who serve or have served in the Royal Navy, British Army and Royal Air Force.
"The ceremonies in Macclesfield and Crewe provide a meaningful moment for the local community to demonstrate its appreciation and pride.”
Attendees will witness the official raising of the flag outside the Town Hall in Macclesfield and on Memorial Square in Crewe opposite the Municipal Buildings, marking the beginning of a week of recognition across the country leading up to Armed Forces Day.
Everyone is welcome to attend and show their support. Local residents, community groups, veterans, and families are encouraged to join the event and stand together in honour of the Armed Forces.
There is a veteran support drop-in the same day in Macclesfield which will be giving veterans free afternoon tea who attend the event which runs from 11am until 3pm supporting the flag raising.
This simple yet powerful act of raising the flag serves as a reminder of the vital role our Armed Forces play both at home and abroad, and the continued support they deserve from the communities they serve.
