A51 Nantwich Bypass – Peacock roundabout improvement works

Highway improvement works to improve safety at Peacock Roundabout on the A51 Nantwich Bypass will begin on Monday.

Work is scheduled to start on 12 January 2026 and expected to last five weeks. The scheme includes the installation of a new ‘toucan’ signal crossing, improved street lighting, a reduced speed limit on the approach to the roundabout, new signage and road markings and upgrades to the footway and cycleway.

To keep everyone safe, road closures will be needed during the works, with diversion routes clearly signed. Work will mainly take place off peak on weekdays between 9.30am and 3.30pm, with occasional weekend working, if needed.

Pedestrian and cyclist access will be maintained, although cyclists may be asked to dismount through the works.

Bus services will continue and any changes will be shared on their website. Waste collections will not be affected, and emergency services will retain access at all times.

Local businesses will remain open and delays are expected, so motorists are encouraged to plan journeys ahead. Advance-warning signage will be in place and onsite staff will be available throughout the works to provide advice and assistance.
