Loneliness and social isolation

There are things which you can do to avoid feeling lonely and isolated. Try these tips and don’t ever suffer in silence:

  • reach out to others
    Phone, text or email – there are plenty of ways you can get in contact with friends and family
  • join in
    Find local groups in your area and try something new
  • get out and about
    Being outdoors in the fresh air will make you feel brighter, if you struggle with mobility there are people and organisations who can help you
  • invite people over
    Even if it is just for a cuppa and a chat – talking to fellow human beings is a good thing to do
  • plan your time
    Have activities and experiences to look forward to; this will help you to feel more positive and increase self-worth
