Becoming a childminder

A childminder is a registered professional who provides childcare and early years education, often from their home, following the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) statutory framework. Childminders have the option to register either with Ofsted or with a childminder agency (CMA).

To find out how to register with Ofsted or a CMA, visit the become a childminder or nanny page on GOV.UK

Pre-registration childminder briefing

Our Cheshire East Early Years team offer you support if you are thinking of becoming a childminder in your local area.

We hold briefing sessions for anyone interested in becoming a childminder, where you can find out about:

  • Ofsted and CMA registration
  • required documents and training
  • how to apply
  • the registration visit

For further information, register interest to attend a pre-registration childminder briefing, and a member of the team will be in touch to arrange a date and time for a briefing session.
