Josh work experience July 2026

Monday

On the first day I was greeted by the team. They showed me around the office. Then, they explained what I would be doing during my two days with Cheshire East Council.

I first got introduced into a website called Silktide, this is used by the council to analyse their pages on the web page. This tell them any mistakes in the website to make sure that the website is up to standard for the residents. This means that when they get onto the website they are happy with the experience while using it.

Once the mistakes were highlighted, they worked through the problems in order of priority. Then they work there way through the problems shown by it. Which is really helpful as the problems would not get picked up by humans as there is to much information to get through so it saves a lot of time.

After that, I was introduced to Contentsis. This holds all the information about the website and and it helps them manage it.  It was clear that this is how they make sure the website always has the most recent and correct details.

Finally, I was introduced to google analytics. Which shows all the analyses of the website and how people use the website and what they are using it for. This shows themes in the use of the website and when pages will be used more than others. It also shows which parts of the website need to be improved to make it easier for everyone.

Tuesday 

On my second and final day of my work experience i was introduced into Google Business. Which shows all the businesses linked to the council and if there are any problems with them, such as the wrong information has been inputted. this means that they can change it so that then the residents of Cheshire East are getting the information they need. it also means that they are not getting told wrong such as the closing times of a business. 

I then got put onto a task. Where i was going through all the requests from google to make sure that the information given to the public is the right information. So that they are not expecting something that is wrong. I then hit a problem where google had blocked me from updating anymore. They thought that i could of been causing harm to the website, and i could not update any more information. This put a stop to the task.

Finally, i started to delete files from old elections that were no longer needed for the website. This saved time for other members of the team as they could get on with other jobs that needed doing.
