Volunteering in Cheshire East

Volunteers play an important role in the work that Cheshire East Council do, as well as the many charities in our neighbourhoods. Making a significant contribution to keeping our communities’ hearts beating, and supporting vulnerable people, without their hard work and dedication many community activities would cease to function.

Libraries

There are a number of volunteer opportunities within the Library services.

Waste reduction

Volunteer opportunities at Tatton Park

Explore the volunteer opportunities at Tatton Park, including roles in the gardens, Old Hall, Farm and bookshop.

Home from Hospital volunteering

Our volunteers offer lonely and isolated patients short term support (up to 6 weeks) after returning home from Macclesfield and Crewe hospitals to promote a good recovery. 

Public Rights of Way Volunteering

Many users of the network of footpaths, bridleways and byways in Cheshire East play an invaluable role in helping to keep paths open and safe for everyone to enjoy. They do this by carrying out a range of activities, including inspecting paths, checking notices, waymarking paths and clearing paths of encroaching vegetation. If you’d be interested in helping out in one or more of these ways email prow@cheshireeast.gov.uk

Countryside Rangers Service

Enjoy working with the Ranger Service at a county park or local nature reserve on conservation and other practical tasks. Email rangers@cheshireeast.gov.uk for more information.

Family Hubs in Cheshire East

The Parent Champion role is a voluntary opportunity, where you can share your experience as a parent/carer of children aged 0 - 19 (or up to 25 with SEND). Being part of a team that has a real voice in developing local services and support for families, by helping promote and shape Family Hub services.

We also have other volunteering opportunities available, including:

  • stay & play sessions — supporting a variety of groups for young children and families
  • reception/front owce support — welcoming visitors and helping services run smoothly

General support across activities and events.
