Someone Like You opening/scene setters

I’m an adult social care worker.

I support people every day.

I help people live with dignity and independence.

It’s not always easy.

But it’s always worth it.

Why We Care

I care because one day it could be me.

I care because everyone deserves kindness.

I care because we all need a little help sometimes.

I care because I want people to feel seen.

I care because I want people to feel safe.

I care because no one should feel alone.

I care because it makes a real difference.

I care because people matter.

I care because I believe in community.

I care because it feels good to help.

What we do

I help with meals and medication.

I help people get dressed in the morning.

I support people after illness or injury.

I help people live ordinary lives.

I bring companionship and conversation.

I listen. I laugh. I show up.

I help people feel like themselves again.

I make sure people are treated with dignity.

Impact

A small act of care can mean everything.

It’s not just a job. It’s a purpose.

I’ve seen people rebuild their lives.

I’ve seen confidence return to people’s eyes.

I’ve seen the power of being there.

I’ve seen how much a smile can do.

About you – speaking to the viewer

You don’t need experience to care.

You just need patience, compassion and heart.

If you’ve ever helped a friend in need—you already have what it takes.

You could make someone feel safe again.

You could help someone regain their freedom.

You could be someone’s lifeline.

You could be someone like me.

You could be someone like me.

You could be someone like me.

Shared Lives carer opportunities

If you could support someone in the community or share your home, family life and activities you love doing with an adult who needs extra support due to age, illness or disability, you might be interested in becoming a Shared Lives carer.

Become a Personal Assistant (PA)

Direct Payments allow individuals to take control of their own care by employing Personal Assistants (PAs) who support them in their daily lives. This gives people the freedom to choose who supports them and how.

As a PA , you can make a real difference by providing tailored support to someone in your community. Whether it's helping with daily tasks, accessing the community, or offering companionship, your role is vital.

The role includes:

  • flexible working hours
  • meaningful one-to-one support
  • opportunities to build lasting relationships

If you're interested in becoming a PA or learning more about Direct Payments, you can find more information on our working as a Personal Assistant page.
