Stewart Street, Crewe
We are carrying out footway improvements and carriageway resurfacing along Stewart Street, between Alton Street and Langley Drive.
What is happening
Works to deliver these improvements are currently underway and are scheduled to be completed by Friday 20 February 2026.
The works will include the following:
- Footway improvement work
- Resurfacing and remarking of the road
The footway works will be completed ahead of the road resurfacing.
We understand that there is no right time to work in such a key location and this scheme has been carefully planned to minimise disruption.
Road closures and diversions
Under current Health & Safety legislation and for the safety of our workforce and members of the public, it will be necessary for the following road closure to be in place from the junction with Victoria Avenue to the junction with Clyde Grove.
- Daytime road closure between 8am and 5pm.
A suitable diversion route will be in place for the duration of the works. Some weekend works may be required to ensure that work is completed in line with the proposed schedule.
We will make every effort to maintain vehicle access to properties, business, schools and nurseries within the closure. However, due to the nature of the works there may be delays in access due to ongoing plant and machinery movements.
Access for pedestrians and cyclists will be maintained, with cyclists being asked to dismount whilst make their way through the works.
Bus companies are aware and may be operating a revised route - please check their website for more information regarding routes and possible timetable changes.
Waste collection services will not be affected.
You can view roadworks and diversion routes on our roadworks page.
