A537 Chelford Road, Nether Alderley - Damage to bridge

Following a road traffic collision the bridge parapet on the A537 Chelford Road has been extensively damaged.

What is happening?

For safety we have installed temporary concrete barriers on the bridge, which have reduced the width of the carriageway, allowing for only one traffic.  To control the flow of traffic, temporary traffic signals have been installed and will remain in operation until repairs are carried out.

We expect the new sandstone blocks to be delivered by the end of August 2026, when repairs will begin.

• Emergency access will be maintained.
• Delays are possible and motorists should plan journeys accordingly.
• Local businesses will remain open. 
• Pedestrians must follow the on-site instructions
