A523 Cross Street, Macclesfield - Traffic Signal Upgrade
We will be carrying out traffic signal improvement works at the A523 Cross Street and Byrons Lane junction.

What is happening?
We will be carrying out traffic signal improvement works starting on Monday 12 October 2026 until Friday 23 October 2026. The works will include the installation of new vehicle detection equipment, to help the signals respond more effectively to traffic conditions.
The works will include:
- Installation of new traffic detection equipment
- Installation of new underground cabling
- Excavation of the footway around signal poles
What can I expect?
During the works, temporary traffic signals will be in place to ensure the safety of both the workforce and road users. Lane restrictions will be in place while excavation and installation works are carried out.
Pedestrian access will be maintained wherever possible, although temporary footway diversions may be necessary at certain stages of the works.
Delays are expected and motorists are advised to allow extra time for their journeys.
We understand that working on a busy route may cause inconvenience but the works have been carefully planned to minimise disruption, while allowing the improvements to be completed safely and efficiently.

- The temporary traffic signals and footway closures are necessary to protect the safety of both members of the public and our workforce.
