Traffic lights and reporting a problem

We design, inspect and maintain traffic lights at junctions and pedestrian crossings across Cheshire East.

If something is wrong, you can report it online or call us if it is urgent.

Report a traffic light issue

You can report a problem with traffic lights, including if:

  • the lights are out, off or stuck
  • a light is not working
  • the push button at a pedestrian crossing is not working
  • the equipment is damaged

What you need

Before you start, make sure you have:

  • the location of the traffic lights
  • a short description of the problem

Urgent problems

Call us immediately on 0300 123 5025 if:

  • the traffic lights are out, off or stuck on
  • the traffic lights are damaged
  • the controller at a pedestrian crossing is not working

What happens after you report it

We aim to attend within:

  • 2 hours
    if all lights are out at a junction or when emergency action is needed
  • 2 contract hours
    if all lights are out at a pedestrian crossing
  • 6 contract hours
      if just a red light is out or a push button isn't working
  • 12 contract hours
    if just an amber or green light is out

A contract hour is any hour between 7.30am and 7pm.
For example, if you report a red light out at 4pm, we will attend by 10.30am the next working morning.
